The week started off with the opportunity to teach my “Leading a Global Company” class to the Kellogg HKUST EMBAs in Hong Kong. The KH28 class was a wonderful group of executives from countries across Asia. Judy Au, Stephanie Lam, and the entire KH administration do an amazing job. The KH EMBA program has been rated the number one EMBA PROGRAM worldwide for at least 12 consecutive years! Here’s the class:

While in Hong Kong, Connie Chu, K19, organized a wonderful dinner with alumni from Northwestern, Kellogg, and KelloggHKUST. The executives were very interested in trying to understand all of the current issues in the US. (As you can imagine, not an easy topic to understand or explain)😳

Here are the alums at the dinner (Thanks again, Connie!!!)

One of the areas that I am very proud of at Kellogg is the focus on developing leaders that balance both professional careers and being socially responsible.

After my EMBA classes, Cynthia Meng (Kellogg ‘98) arranged a visit to a farm run by a foundation in Clear Water Bay. We met with 25 HK-based young financial professionals who volunteer to work on the farm one day a week. The farm engages in circular economy in support for young people in less developed areas and is strongly supported by Kellogg alums.

Okay, one more interesting event!! Cynthia arranged a visit to Shenzhen so I could participate in a mindfulness seminar with Martin Xue and his colleagues.

The event was hosted by Corey Watlington and the Avenue School, a fascinating school from kindergarten to 12th grade focused on developing the entire life of the students…..heart, body and mind.

It was fascinating to see the close connection between my work on self reflection and the four principles and Martin’s work on mindfulness: really taking the time to slow down to focus on values, purpose and what really matters for the very short time we are on this earth.

Here’s wishing you a “self reflective” week! 😁👍
