I have the opportunity every year to teach in the Kellogg HKUST EMBA program in Hong Kong. Since I’m going halfway around the world, I love to try to get together with Kellogg alumni and give leadership talks in some of the Chinese universities. It is working perfectly so far on this trip.

It was great to get together with the Kellogg Shanghai alum club the other night focusing on a wide variety of global issues. It was fascinating to get their perspectives on the global economy.

In addition, my good friend and former Baxter colleague Helen set up several wonderful visits.

The first was at Shanghai Jiaotong University, focusing on “Guiding Organizations to Grow in Complex Systems.”

The second was a talk at Shanghai Fudan University titled “Humanity: The Organizational Anchor in An Uncertain Era.”

The third talk was for CEIBS (China Europe International Business School) alums called “Values: The Inner Compass for Leaders in Turbulent Times.”

What really made the third event special was a choir performance which was truly outstanding. Even though I don’t speak Mandarin, I was emotionally touched by the experience. He are two short video clips:

On a personal note, I was able to bring my daughter Diane with me…a wonderful shared experience.

OK, I’m heading off to Hong Kong, and I will give you another update over the weekend.👍😁
