In the most recent Kellogg magazine issue (Summer 2025), Scott Steinberg wrote an excellent article discussing how in a period of increasing uncertainty and change, business leaders can not only survive, but thrive. The article is called “The Resilience Playbook.”

Scott interviewed my Kellogg colleague, Clinical Professor Carter Cast, and me, and he incorporated several strategies that you can employ to become more resilient:

  • Reinterpret fear as a warning signal
  • Use questions constructively
  • Don’t try to predict the future

He also included a series of ways to promote resilience throughout your life:

  • Manage your emotions
  • Make wellness a priority
  • Foster trust and communication at work
  • Learn fast – and recover faster
  • Cultivate a sense of purpose
  • Become a lifelong learner
  • Establish boundaries to prevent burnout
  • Employ anchoring routines
  • Leverage a growth network
  • Focus on what you can control
  • Cultivate mental flexibility
  • Employ strategic patience
  • Making change work for you

As I mentioned to Scott in the article, the key question is to ask yourself, “What should I be doing differently in the face of new circumstances?”

Here’s wishing everyone a great week!!
