First of all, I want to wish you and your families a wonderful 2025!!!

Second, since many of you are starting the new year with resolutions, my latest Forbes contributor story includes some thoughts on resolutions for values based leaders. Here’s a link to that Forbes article which was published on Thursday, January 2nd.

Third, I love it when I hear a story that leads to some helpful, thoughtful self reflection. That happened again at mass this weekend. The priest told the following story:

“A young girl was flipping through the pages of one of her family albums to look for a picture of her grandfather who had died before she was born and therefore she had never had the opportunity to meet him.

She found a picture of a cow being milked by a farmer. Her mother told her that the person milking the cow was her grandfather. However, he was seated behind the cow, so the only thing you could see in the picture behind the cow were her grandfather’s feet.

Since the little girl was anxious to see what her grandfather looked like, she immediately headed off to a photo store and asked the clerk if he could Photoshop the cow out of the picture so she could see her grandfather. 🤣

The priest then turned to us and asked us several very thoughtful questions:

  • What gets in the way of what is most important to us?
  • What prevents us from living our values?
  • What do we need to change to enable us to live the lives we were called to live?

Wow!!! It is clear to me that I need to personally spend some time focused on these questions. 🤔🤔🤔

Have a great week!! 😁👍
