oneacrefundGalaThe 7th Annual One Acre Fund Gala honored Harry Kraemer as the 2013 Farmers’ Humanitarian Award recipient. The annual gala gathers Chicago’s community of philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, executives, and members of the Kellogg/Northwestern community for an evening of music, dinner and presentations that celebrate both One Acre Fund’s work and the many people that support it. This year’s event was held at the Chicago Cultural Center and was expected to be attended by 300 people. One Acre Fund is an award-winning non-profit providing a ‘market bundle’ that includes education, finance, seed and fertilizer, and market access to over 137,000 farmers and their families in East Africa. One Acre Fund uses investments, not handouts, to generate permanent gains in farm income, helping Africa’s hardest working farm families achieve their full potential. One Acre Fund’s programs, which impact over 820,000 people across Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi, have won accolades and press from the Financial Times, Forbes magazine, and PBS Newshour, as well as funding from USAID. In January 2013, the organization was listed #18 on the Global Journal’s annual list of the world’s Top 100 NGOs. Harry Kraemer, the event honoree is a noted executive, author, and committed supporter of One Acre Fund’s mission.
