First of all, I want to wish all of the fathers and grandfathers a wonderful Father’s Day!!! Being a father is a true blessing🙏🙏

This weekend was also the 167th Northwestern University graduation. I had the opportunity to attend the overall NU graduation as well as the Kellogg EMBA 136-137 graduation.

The NU graduation was particularly exciting since the commencement speaker was Steve Carell. I had a chance to chat with him before the event, and I’m including the video of his very enjoyable commencement speech. I think you’ll get a real kick out of it.

The Kellogg EMBA 136-137 graduation was equally impressive as a result of the two student presentations. Pat Lee from 136 and Juan Alvarez from 137 highlighted what it really means to be part of Kellogg and our obligation to make a true difference in the world during a particularly difficult time in our history.

I also had the opportunity to fly out to San Francisco to spend time with wonderful Kellogg Alumni. Gerron and Judy Vartin hosted us in their wonderful home in Atherton. We had a very open dialogue on several topics, including the protests held across the country the last several days.

While some people believe the protests were violent and required the National Guard to be sent in (and people have the right to believe what they want), others (including myself) believe that 99.9% of the protestors were ordinary Americans exercising their rights as Americans.

A good friend of mine stated it perfectly in describing the protests:
“This is who we are. We’re Americans. We are imperfect, many different kinds of folks who don’t always agree. But we agree about democracy.”

She sent me a short video that summed it up well (I have already watched this 5 times):

Stay safe, and have a good week!! 👍😁🙏
